Guyson controls engineers have developed a useful option for users of automated air blast systems with multiple-axis nozzle motion. Our multi-axis jog pendant is a whole lot more than just a convenience feature.
The hand-held jog pendant is tied-in to the PLC of the blast system, and the Emergency Stop on the pendant is tied to the blasting machine’s E-Stop and safety circuit. It enables the operator to jog machine turntables and each axis of the nozzle manipulator without use of the touch screen human-machine interface (HMI).
When the jog pendant of a 3-axis gun mover is in use, the positions of the Y (horizontal), Z (vertical) and A (wrist) axes are displayed on the Servo Setup Screen of the HMI.
To jog an individual axis, the operator turns a switch to select Y, Z or A, presses and holds two Enabler buttons, then touches the Engage button. In this condition, the handwheel of the pendant can be turned in the Plus or Minus direction to very accurately adjust the position of the nozzle manipulator.
The jog pendant can be a time-saving tool when the nozzle motion program is being developed for a new component to be processed in the automated blasting system, since the user does not have to repeatedly go back a forth between the HMI and a nozzle observation point to zero-in on the optimum nozzle position.
