Guyson Corporation has introduced a new cartridge-type dust collector that offers an upgrade in performance and convenience for users of industrial blasting cabinets. The Model D500 is designed and manufactured at Guyson’s Saratoga Springs, New York, plant.
The compact Model D500 has a footprint 23 inches wide and 34.25 inches deep, with a height of 79.5 inches (202 H x 58 W x 87 cm D). Its nonferrous blower assembly is powered by a 1.5 horsepower (1.1 kW) TEFC motor and generates air extraction capacity of 500 cubic feet per minute (14 m3/min.).
The heart of the D500 dust collector is its pleated paper filter cartridge, which has a generous 226 square feet of filter area. The Guyson filter is pre-treated with flame retardant and factory pre-coated to yield an average efficiency of 99.9 percent for particles of 0.5 microns or larger. No run-in period is required for the filter to reach full efficiency. The easily changed cartridge is held by a slide-in carrier plate and is sealed and locked in position by lever-action clamps.
To maintain efficient air filtration, dust is purged from the cartridge by a reverse pulse cleaning system. Pulse jet cleaning takes place during operation of the dust collector, when the operator pushes a button, as a brief and measured burst of compressed air is directed inside the cartridge, instantly discharging dust from the entire area of the filter. Microprocessor-controlled automatic pulsing is available optionally on the Model D500.
On the front of the dust collector cabinet is a color-coded manometer gauge that displays the pressure differential between the clean and dusty sides of the filter. This exclusive feature continuously and clearly indicates when the filter is becoming clogged and when the cartridge needs replacement.
Another convenient standard feature of the D500 is its dial-faced butterfly blast gate located at the 6 inch diameter inlet of the dust collector. This easy-to-use regulator takes the guesswork out of flow control, because it can be positively set, enabling the airflow through the dust collector to be finely adjusted and locked in position.
The Model D500 is recommended for virtually any suction-blast or pressure-blast manual blasting cabinet up to approximately 64 cubic feet in size, as well as smaller multple-gun automatic blast machines. Guyson offers engineered dust collectors of greater capacity that are similar in design.
