In this robotic blast machine design, two servomotor-driven spindles are housed in a 180-degree indexing rotary drum. Inside the blast chamber, the fixtured component is purged by core air as it is exposed to the blast from a single pressure-blast nozzle precisely directed by a mid-size robot, such as the ABB IRB-140. Unload/load takes place during the blast cycle, so idle time is kept to a minimum.
