Almen Test Fixtures

Whenever it is practical, Almen test fixtures are made from actual components, precisely modified to present the face of each Almen strip in the correct orientation to sample peening intensity on critical surfaces.

When production of fixtures from actual components is not practical, it may be possible to fabricate one to exactly duplicate the geometry of the component. In such cases, the potential for shadowing effects that might compromise accuracy, both on the component and on the fixture, must be carefully evaluated.
